My child has a habit of always saying, “I can’t.” How can I build his confidence?

A child without confidence tends to give up easily. By admitting he can’t, he stabilizes his feeling of anxiety and gets himself prepared for his put down. It may be caused by hidden anxiety towards his mother, being afraid that his mother will be cross, or will lose her affection. Thus make sure that the child is always enveloped with love.

Cuddle and say words of affirmation such as “It is all right.” Point out and specify what he is good at. Words of affirmation can be simple, such as “You have such a lovely smile,” or “You are so full of energy.” This will strengthen self-recognition and eventually build his confidence.
